As the primary users for your product and the people who are most familiar with the front lines of customer service, what your employees have to say is far and away the most important feedback available. Some of it may just be blowing off steam, but there is always an underlying truth to the theme. So take advice from your agents, and let them in on current progress for related changes. Allowing employees to be a part of the company growth is a great way to ensure that each person feels a sense of ownership over their work and their work environment. This way it’s less like clocking in, and more like a paid session of self-improvement. That can be very validating. Another route to ensuring their comfort is to be a part of their lives. If someone who works for you is going through a hard time, listen when they’re speaking. Bring up such taboo topics as time-off requests before the employee does, if you think that may help. Invest yourself in the lives of your people, and you will find that enriching those lives is just a side effect.
